Last week saw alinea sponsored GB Triathlete, Alex Yee, compete in his first race of the season at the Gran Canaria ETU Sprint Triathlon European Cup. 65 elite triathletes competed across a course comprising a 750m swim, 20km bike and a 5km run with the winner coming home in a combined time of 00:56:03.Alex exited the swim leg in a time of 00:09:44 and, following a T1 time of 00:01:23 and a bike leg of 00:30:10, he entered T2 in the top half of the field. However, following a slower T2 time than would have been ideal, Alex dropped a number of places and had to chase the leading pack. Knowing he needed to finish strong, Alex produced the second fastest run time of the day, 00:14:34, moving up the field and crossing the line in 6th place with a combined time of 00:56:20.
